Barnett Newman

Barnett Newman was a painter in the mid 20th century. His style is usually one solid color with one or more streaks going down the canvas.
I dont really consider his style to be art. Yes, hes trying to break down the social conceptions of what art should be, but I feel that theyre there for a reason, so things like one block and a line arent considered master pieces, and people who have actual talent can still be the ones who receive recognition. Some people say that this should still be considered art, but i feel theres a difference between art and paint on a canvas, just like theres a difference between music and random sounds. These differences are hard to define and vary from person to person, but for me personally most of Newmans paintings arent really art, they are just paint on a canvas.
